My name is Laura Roth. As a qualified professional copyeditor and proofreader, I aim to exceed my clients' expectations, going above and beyond the expected services of correcting spelling, grammar, and punctuation. To add value, I identify more subtle errors missed by most automated spellcheckers and grammar tools. These include homonyms, idiom wording, ordering of cumulative adjectives, U.S.- or U.K.-specific spellings, use of numerals vs. spelled out numbers, and more. For copyediting specifically, I provide suggestions for improved content flow and consistency of tone and voice. In addition to my training through Proofread Anywhere and Grammarist, I use credible sources such as The Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster as a style guide; I also communicate with each client individually regarding specific style preferences based on the type of voice they wish to use for their project.
